A "Gem" of a Painting Project

Okay, so I had NO idea that my painted gemstone project with my Art I, 9th grade students, would get so much attention. To say that I am surprised would be the understatement of the year. I started out by posting their results of their large scale gemstone paintings using tempera cakes (which are highly underrated in my opinion) in a few Facebook groups for art teachers and WHAMO!
